You could always e-mail me for suggestions, lol. And the subject of obscure OAV's is tough, as OAV's in general are becoming obscure as the fan-base becomes younger and younger and more of the older anime material goes out of print or is generally hard to find. I could give you a big honking list of titles to start Googling, but I'll give you the links to two websites that will mostly echo the suggestions I'd give. www.colonydrop.com/index.php?blog=1. These guys have quite a few articles on rare or hard to find "Oriental Video Animation" that'll be worth the time. www.animenewsnetwork.com/buried-treasure/. The unfortunately discontinued Buried Treasure column has lots of suggestions of hard to find stuff that's either awesome or absolutely terrible, as well as rarity guides.

------------------------------------------------------- I always wanted to show you my beloved flagship of real and disturbing horror animation. So far this movie, a sacrament of the definition of pure horror, is even forbidden in its home country. Midori 's other titles in Japanese: 少女椿 Romanji: Shōjo Tsubaki (The Camellia Girl) And just a small note: This movie is based on the cult manga Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show created by Suehiro Maruo.

I know nothing about this anime OVA, and yet I'm already getting freaked out by the guy with the glasses. Speaking of anime OVAs, I liked Battle Royal High School and searched the Internet high and low for the manga it's based on, Shinma Jinden ( Legend of the True Demons), but I haven't found anything helpful.

That sure are some good examples, fokkusu. Is The Laughing Target actually a bit more gory than the other works of Rumiko Takahashi?

That sure are some good examples, fokkusu. Is The Laughing Target actually a bit more gory than the other works of Rumiko Takahashi? It's actually not that gory. It has violence, some blood and freaky-looking giant leech things, but no guts. It's more of a suspense-supernatural horror than a gore-fest. If you want to see it, there's a subtitled version on Youtube. It's not the best anime I've seen, but it's still pretty good. Unlike most of the titles I've posted, this (along with Lemnear and Lily-C.A.T) got a US VHS release (Lemnear was lucky enough to get a DVD release). I posted the Japanese covers of these titles because I think the US covers suck.

Fuck, I think I saw a tape of The Laughing Target (with hideous cover art) in a £1 shop years ago. If I knew I would have been into this stuff years on, I would have picked it up.

There was indeed a UK release around the same time as the US release. I know there was a UK dubbed version, dunno about subbed though. The dub, which is the same in both the US and UK, uses British voice actors. I need to watch the dubbed version sometime...

Precisely it, that cover made it the wrong form of intriguing at the time.

I saw The Laughing Target a long time ago, but hardly remember what it was about.
