My favourite OVA on my favourite format. I love these things... they're so cheap! Sorry for the low res.

Until I saw the disc I thought that was a DVD for a second, looks gorgeous.

My favourite OVA on my favourite format. *Adjusts Anal-Retentive-Nerd glasses* Actually Ninja Scroll is not an OVA. It was a theatrical release in Japan. It wasn't made for a straight home video release. Had it been, it would've then been classified as an OVA. As it is though, its just a straight-up anime feature film. *Ahem* Sorry about that. Carry on. ;D

Is that what a Laserdisc looks like? I never saw one before!

I figured as much.
Would it be expensive to get into collecting those? Would it be useful at all for a guy with no Japanese knowledge? I heard a lot of them were released in Japan...

I'd recommend watching James Rolfe's video on Laserdiscs, and it's fair to say a lot were released worldwide, but they significantly lasted in Japan, I don't think they really took off in Britain.

I didn't know Rolfe did a video on them. He's a pretty cool entertainer, I enjoy his stuff. And on his non-AVGN videos he can be quite educating.
I'll admit it, I am a young'un, but that's why my goal is to visit the things I don't yet understand and learn what I need to learn.

Got these from iOffer with some Christmas money. I'm pretty sure they're bootlegs, but I have a remastered Roots Search DVD from the same seller; and the quality is much better than just a plain VHS rip.

Got the really rare, official DVD release of the craptastic children's anime movie; "The Brave Frog" for Christmas. Basically, it's the bastardized American release of the popular 70's anime series "Kerokko Demetan," only condensed into a over 9000 hour 90-minute movie. And it's terrible. Much worse than the original series, I presume. Bad voice acting, extremely irritating characters, nonsensical plot, a lot of bloodless violence, and overall it's rather really depressing and drags on... but I love it like a mother loves an ugly child. Don't ask me why, I don't know.

Won this on Yahoo!Auctions. Something new and fairly inexpensive to add to my small cel collection. With the exception of her eyes, I rather like Moira's design. She's one of the few decent-looking things in Roots Search. I've seen cels of Moira before, but they were all either too close-up and showed her thoroughly strange eyes in hyperdetail (creepy!), or not close-up enough and lacked detail. But I think this one actually looks pretty nice.

Ooh, nice buys! The Roots Search one takes the cake, I'm glad to see that went to someone who cared for this sorta stuff - as much as I dislike Roots Search, I would gladly treasure the materials that went into making. Now let's hope someone gets ahold of most of the M.D. Geist cels you see floating around the Internet and gives them a proper home.
