Favourite foreign movie directors

As of late I have been revisting the works of Mamoru Oshii as well as discovering more about European cinema through directors like Jean Pierre Melville and his awesome film Le Samourai.

Out of interest I thought I'd ask you guys what are your favourite foreign movie directors and any recommendations you can give to those that are new on the subject.

I highly recommend you two works of the French movie director Jacques Deray (gotta love this guy) - the gangster movie "Borsalino" and it´s sequel "Borsalino & Co.". Both with THE icons of French movie history Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo!! Catherine Rouvel is also in both movies and looked pretty cute back in the days.

And in general I´ve found out that I love the works of Patrick McGoohan - hence my current avatar. Check out his cult series "The Prisoner" - it´s a must. You will -never- regret watching it.
