I feel like that's me, I can only be bothered to follow OVAs now, there's few shows that I feel deserve the time dedication. I will definitely finish VOTOMS because VOTOMS is awesome, along with Heroman because I've been following that and lking it since episode 1, but certain older shows, even when interesting, just feel like they're taking effort.
Maybe I'm just being grumpy lately, what are you people like with keeping up with things?

Well as I have mentioned to other people before, with any animated series I attempt a schedule of around 5 or 6 episodes a day when watching a show. If I'm watching a boxset, I do a 'disc a day' routine much like how I have marathoned Gundam, Southern Cross and Votoms in the past.
With regards to newer shows, I am trying to branch out and try some shows that are slowly making their way onto DVD. For example the 30's era gangster drama anime Baccano looks excellent, Gonzo's Pumpkin Scissors looks entertaining in a Valkyria Chronicles kind of way and I still wouldn't mind giving Madhouse's take on Claymore a go as thats a Shonen series I believe to be worth following. Hell I have no idea why I havent tried the entirety of Gurren Lagann yet.
However currently I am mostly watching movies and the odd OVA as well; mainly catching up on some Mamoru Oshii stuff as he is arguably my favourite animation director.

I have lost interest in anime series in general. Even the Berserk anime does not appeal me - although it is suggested to. But I´ve also get the impression that I nearly watch OVAs only for the last couple of months. One reason is that I just don´t have enough spare time to spend on this kinda stuff due to school.

I'm not into most of the mainstream anime and manga today; I tend to like the older stuff from the '80s and '90s. Hokuto No Ken is one of my favorite anime/manga series, but none of its licensees have never given the franchise full distribution here in North America. If it wasn't for YouTube and the HNK fansite Heart of Madness, I would have never seen the original anime adaptation of the series, nor any of the spinoff manga and OVAs.

Well, you are in luck as Discotek have already just released about 36 episodes of the original Fist of the North Star series on Region 1 DVD. www.amazon.com/Fist-North-Star-6pc-Full/dp/B003FP0Y0S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1284130974&sr=8-1Either way, as much as I adore a good chunk of older anime, I think that with regards to newer shows there is stuff out there that might be good. All people need to do is I think just dig around and sift through all the bleh stuff that is frequently advertised on ANN 'cough'Master of Martial Hearts'cough'. Sadly in this day and age we may never have blonde supersoldiers out on the rampage again but we can have decent alternatives if fans looked hard or support more the few new shows that we enjoy.

Is this DVD uncut? I´ve made the sad realization that both, the British and Swedish releases, are cut.

Is this DVD uncut? I´ve made the sad realization that both, the British and Swedish releases, are cut. Are you talking about the movie or the television series? The TV series as released by Discotek is exactly the same as it's original Japanese broadcast, volume 2 is coming out in November! As for the movie, there's unfortunately no "uncut" version since Toei has only released the censored version ever since it's original home video release in the 80's. The original theatrical version with it's gore enraged parents and the PTA, which was very powerful as a pressure-group in 70's and 80's Japan.

No, pal. I actually meant the TV series release of Manga Entertainment (Ldt. TV-Series Box.). It also contains episodes 1-36 and has the original Japanese & British dub (with it´s music changed) on it. And for the movie as you may know there will NEVER be a complete uncut and uncensored version in the future. That damn fire within the studio... Except somebody gets his hands on the Italian VHS tape of Dynamic Italia, which was released in 1996. It´s meant to be the only edition to be fully uncensored. That´s right. And after you may have bought this certain tape then you gotta do what a real man´s gotta do, ya understand me?

I think that Manga release is long out of print, not that anyone needs it now anyway.
As for this Italian tape, I doubt the chances of finding one in good enough quality, and I wouldn't want to see the jump from HD to VHS in the middle of a film.

Cool, but thanks to YouTube and an contributor known as UnflinchedTesticle, I was able to watch all of the first series of Hokuto No Ken. I last left off watching Hokuto No Ken 2 on YT with the whole Hokuto Ryuken story arc. And yes, I am saddened that North American anime/manga distributors don't use the shock-value advertising of anime like they used to in the 1990s. It's what got me into Akira, HNK, M.D. Geist, and so many other anime OVAs and films in the first place.

@ve: Personally I would not mind this way. Then at least we could enjoy the violence without any of those cocky blurrings.
