I'm pretty new to Japanese splatter but after watching the trailer for the upcoming Machete, I decided to watch this that I bought a while ago.
HRM is a short film in which not a lot happens, a woman with a part-mechanical body gets revenge by calling out some gangsters who massacred her family. It practically satiates a literal bloodlust with its gore and some creative aspects as well as being very well-made for a low-budget flick, could be better, but the limitations of it are obvious throughout.
Its sequel, Bloody Battle, is a different beast; it's longer, crazier, slightly higher-budgeted and gorier. BB expands the invitingly horrific world of HRM just a bit and loads it up with a lot more style, expect some very slick fight choreography and even editing, as well as some very inventive characters and ways to die. Acting doesn't drag both features down to laughable levels and character development isn't sparse or jammed down your mouth, just the right amount is injected for something like this.
If you can't wait for Machete, let Milly satisfy you for now, hell, this little duo of films might even be better.
