Help with SMT (Original 1992 game, software issues

For those of you who use emulators, I have a very serious issue with the ROM of Shin Megami Tensei. Not only does text flicker and disappear from time to time (that's a graphical glitch I've learned to ignore), there's a serious bug about 1/3 through the game.

While you are in this blue dimension, there is a man who looks like Jesus that tells you to go to a spring and bring him Soma. However, the spring ALWAYS gives you Soma and the man never receives it no matter how many times you go to him. This is something I've read in many walkthroughs that is not supposed to happen.

If any of you know how to fix this or know anyone who might be able to help with this problem, send me a personal message. Also, if you know ANY website that has the GBA remake of the original SMT game for less than $100, let me know right away.

I would greatly appreciate any support on this.

Which emulator are you using, actually. I remember, having issues getting the game to go.

Are you using a patched rom? Since, I heard you need to get a certain, older (or newer?... Sorry) version of the rom, and I think it needs to be headerless or something?

I use ZSNES---one of the older versions. I once used another SNES emulator (I forgot the name, but I can look it up) that got rid of the graphical glitches, but did nothing for the bug I'm talking about. I've never used patches with any emulators.

Every website I've been to gives me the same version of the SMT ROM.
