I ask this question mainly because believe it or not I have not seen a single one of his films all the way through. Seeing as how he often tended to make animated projects that bucked the trend of all animation being just for kids at the time, he has had me interested in his work for awhile.
However I myself am unsure as to what exactly should be a good film to start with when browsing his filmography. So I ask, any of his films that you can recommend to me as a casual viewer with no expectations?

I love his films, I started with Coonskin, one of his more controversial but also culturally successful films, followed by Hey Good Lookin'.
Heavy Traffic is a good ne as well, the first two are up on YouTube.

Frankly I've never been a fan of Bakshi, the man comes off as a hack and a snake oil salesman, with very little talent but good talking skills to get production funds. Wizards, his version of Lord of the Rings, Fire N' Ice and Cool World are all terrible films on a technical and narrative level.
I always hear the excuse from him that he never had enough budget to work with, but when you see television animation and Japanese animation with way less of a budget to work with than Bakshi ever had, but much higher quality animation and production values, it's easy to see where the faults lie.
