Early Roots Search Design

It's actually... good!

I think it's supposed to be Buzz. Anyhow, it was in the ad section in the back of my artbook of The Humanoid, and it was the only one I could find.



Finally, evidence that Roots Search didn't suck in the beginning. But what went wrong, I wonder? Any thoughts?

Damn, I would have happily watched it if the characters in it looked a bit closer to that, now I really wish it was.

I suspect the pan image during the credits was also early concept art, as well as the similar image on the US LD cover and the one on the Japanese VHS/LD covers.

In fact, the alien on the Japanese covers looks kinda similar to one of its forms in the actual OVA:



Also, just for fun, I have a nice scan of the credits image from a film comics book and a picture of the Japanese VHS cover with the title edited out.
