I read recently that DNF has come underfire for its "Capture the Babe" mode, in which you have to slap women to calm them down. Being a feminist, this is the second thing to offend me about DNF initially after seeing the cover art. Yes, I know Duke Nukem's somewhat playful sexism is tongue-in-cheek, and the series has thankfully been free of sandwhich jokes and "women suck" content, but this seems to go a bit far. What worries me, are the amount of frat boys that will be playing the game, giggling and cracking "yeah, back in the kitchen bitch" jokes among Chuck Norris ones probably. I think comparisons to videogames being about killing will be brought into the overall argument by some people (not saying that will exclusively happen here), but put it this way, if the mode was racist instead of sexist, it wouldn't exist at all, so I wonder why it does when it's just as offensive.
I don't think beating on female characters in fighting games can really be compared, as everyone gets the same treatment in those games. I wonder if the recent controversey with rape games can be brought into this argument as well.

While I can certainly understand your viewpoint, I have to admit I am not terribly phased by this.
Besides all I'm worried about personally is whether or not the game is actually any good or not.

You need to cool it. The Duke was always a satire on American society - as Shadow Warrior on the entire Asian/Japanese culture and Redneck Rampage on the American South (both games developed by the same team). (...) I have to admit I am not terribly phased by this. Neither am I, so what's up?

Eh, I'm not too bothered, because it's obvious the intention of the game is not to offend and it's not like the people behind it are particularly horrible.
Just felt like bringing it up.

Well with Duke coming back, we also have Serious Sam 3 on the horizon. So epic 'kill 'em all'shooters are back. Well it will be a nice break from all the modern warfare shooters out lately. Also roll on FEAR 3.

I don't think Duke Nukem could ever beat Rapelay or Battle Rapers in the field of sexism. Sexism is most offensive to me when it is defended with pseudoscience and/or religion (case in point, the Middle East).
It's not like most women play video games anyways. Sure, I think games could use more "strong women", but when you bring in the element of good'ol game violence (weapons and fighting), in a way, you're just asking for hot chicks. Just my opinion.

I may be a boy but was raised by a feminist and I must say that Duke Nukem has never really seemed offensive to me, due to the sheer fact that it's all about taking the wee-wee and doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest, but it's a good point nevertheless.
