I'm sure some of you already know me, but for those who don't; I'm Fokkusu (Sam) and I just now got around to joining. XD I like old (and sometimes very bad) anime; usually sci-fi but horror sometimes too. And that's why I thought I'd join. ;D

Well, I guess I've already posted on a few of the other forums but I'd personally like to thank invidninja for showing me the site and I think it's very well made and layed-out.

It's nice to hear your thoughts, welcome to the boards, things aren't fast but it's lively enough at times.

Newb here. Name's Torric, and just like everyone else here, I'm a fan of old-school. Other than that, there's really not much else to me, which I apologize for.

Greetings, everyone. I'm an old school anime fan like the most of you. One of my earliest experience with it was when a German television station (I'm not German) periodically broadcasted midnight anime marathons, which I then enthusiastically recorded on VHS tapes. One of the aired shows was also MD. Geist. I'm glad to be here.

I'm enjoying these new members, welcome one and all, enjoy your stay as always. By the way, I like your avatar, there needed to be more Eagle in Geist II.

I also used to watch their midnight marathons of Japanese movies like Baoh, Midnight Panther, Bubblegum Crisis, some heavily censored Urotsukidoji movies and of course both M.D. Geist OVAs (Just a minor hint: The second one was supposed to be broadcast right on 9/11/01.) So enjoy your stay.

I had VOX in mind. I waited eagerly when the next midnight marathon was to be broadcasted by them. Back then, it was the only way to watch anime for older audience. It made an interesting contrast with the offer of RTL 2. Too bad they eventually stopped doing it. Many people have missed it. What's special to be about VOX is that it is the first time I was exposed to anime (better said adult animation). I even know the date: 12/10/99. The thing I watched was part 6 of Bubblegum Crisis. I stumbled on it by sheer coincidence while chaining channels.

The last anime related broadcast was around in 2007~8 (Hellsing TV series) and after that, VOX stated "adult anime is not an attractive topic" anymore. And hell, I miss them to because of their real quality shit compared to children's programming! And hey: VOX was the first German channel ever that was actually broadcasting anime for adults. Their first show was, as far as I remember, Big Wars in 1993. And back then, until 2002, VOX used to show'em only in Japnese with German subs.

VOX stated "adult anime is not an attractive topic" anymore. That's an illogical explanation. Anime has always been a niche interest in the West. And what did they expect from viewer ratings given the time slot? Yeah, they later switched to exclusive dubbing for an unexplained reason. They had broadcasted Agent Aika subtitled and then later rebroadcasted it dubbed.

I have absolutely no idea, pal. We both know that they have cut into their own flesh with their changings.
You know what? Every kind of film, animation and live-action aswell, is almost always better in their original tone. So imho it was also a bad decision to show e.g. Hellsing only in German.
