So that's why I couldnt torrent the rest of the show. Honestly man you are VERY brave for watching this show and my thoughts on how the medium is portrayed in the show are exactly the same as mine: cheap exploitation without a hint of credibility. I won't be surprised if his tsunami documentary is just as bad if not worse.

I agree with you both. Zach, your division of otakus in A and B categories is very believable, because I could imagine all of us have dealt with such people IRL for too long - e.g. at school like I do now. Is the entire Tokyopop company down now? Or only the one on American soil?

Is the entire Tokyopop company down now? Or only the one on American soil? Yeah here's the answer to that from Wikipedia:

Good to know that, so thank you. Their artbooks of the "Benjamin" series look so delicious, pal. Ever heard about or seen any of them?

Is it a single artist or a series? I' ve seen digital art by a Chinese artist that goes by Benjamin, but not a manga, is that what you're talking about? Did Tokyopop publish them?

Yeah Tokyopop didn't publish his stuff in the U.S. I know his work though, he's Chinese, pretty sure the Asian editions of his books are sold here in import book stores.

Alright then. Benjamin's style is just awesome. By the way what do you think about this here? Is it something original or just decandent behaviour?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, zombi. Author tours at schools are pretty common in the U.S. though not ususally OEL manga authors. This must have been a while ago because Dramacon is floating in limbo now because of Tokyopop, though I heard it was actually good compared to most of the OEL shit that Tokyopop released.

Don't get me wrong, it's just very unusual over here that comic authors visit schools and make speeches about their job and art. Not even book authors do that on a regular basis. So at first it all looked so hyped up to me, but if this is a normal and common thing in the U.S., then I'm happy to have learned something new for today.
