One of my favourite things to do when reseraching foreign films and anime is to unearth some strange, forgotten dub of something few people remember.
To give my example of a super obscure dub, one of Harmony Gold;s most unknown projects alongside Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years is arguably their first stab at dubbing the 1984 Yoshiaki Kawairi film Lensman. Bear in mind, this dub was commissioned by Carl Macek around 3 years before the later Streamline job but features roughly the same cast bar a few exceptions. There are a few slight edits to content, but nothing hugely major (just missing some of the gooey deaths of the villains henchmen).
As well as that, the soundtrack is altered from the original to a mixture of Robotech II: The Sentinels music along with unreleased material presumably by the same composer. Some of it particularly later on is really memorable and its a shame more of this material is not available. The history of this dub as far as I know is extremely limited, I only obtained this edit from a kind Youtuber who just so happened to record it from a UK Sky Movies channel back in the late 80's. Apart from a possible Greek release, no other home video release of this dub to my knowledge exists.
So what other weird and wonderful dubs do you happen to own that not many may know of?
